  • I think a weather protection hair spray is a must in this state
  • I already have a problem with frizz as it is, and the humidity does absolutely nothing for it in the long run and just makes it about three times as bad as it would normally be
  • It's even supposed to hold against wind, and with the five lakes surrounding us, we almost always experience wind levels upwards of 50 miles per hour
  • I had every intention of curling my hair even though I knew the odds of it holding that curl was slim to none since I have very fine hair that holds a curl for an hour under the best of circumstances, which doesn't include the weather, and a wedding on the waterfront to boot

I think a weather protection hair spray is a must in this state. I live in Michigan, and the winters are harsh and dry and the summers are hot and humid, and there’s is no escaping either of these conditions and usually it’s miserable pretty much year round. In some sick way, we all love it, but our hair usually hates it. I already have a problem with frizz as it is, and the humidity does absolutely nothing for it in the long run and just makes it about three times as bad as it would normally be. I bough the Suave Professionals Weather Protection 365, Humidity Defying Hairspray, because I needed something to use that would hopefully keep my hair looking and feeling silky and natural, and prevent the frizz from forming. Sometimes, anti-frizz sprays (of which I have plenty) just don’t do anything against the humidity, and this

one was specifically made for it.

It’s even supposed to hold against wind, and with the five lakes surrounding us, we almost always experience wind levels upwards of 50 miles per hour! I’ve tried to stay away from hair spray in the past because it usually has this whole “helmet head” look about it that I’d rather avoid if it’s at all possible, and so my experience with hair sprays are usually fleeting. The moment I experience any hardening of the hair, or any falling of the style, then I almost never give that product a second chance. If it wont hold in this weather, then it wont hold and nothing is going to change that, but this one is made to hold despite the weather and so I was holding out hope it would be perfect for my hair.

I was actually just attending an outdoor wedding a few ...

      • weeks ago, so I knew that would be the perfect opportunity to test this hairspray as thoroughly as possible. I had every intention of curling my hair even though I knew the odds of it holding that curl was slim to none since I have very fine hair that holds a curl for an hour under the best of circumstances, which doesn’t include the weather, and a wedding on the waterfront to boot.

I styled my hair and then flipped it over by bending over at the waist, and then sprayed the hairspray. You’re supposed to hold the bottle about twenty inches away, but quite frankly that’s far and my arms just aren’t that long for a length away that awkward. I think at best I got it about 15 inches away, and did some light sweeping motions, slightly shaking my hair back and forth to get into all the

little curls. Then I flipped my hair back over the right way and lightly fluffed and positioned it where I wanted it and then sprayed it one more time in the proper position. This initially gave it a lot of body and it seemed like it would hold very well, despite the fact it didn’t feel like my hair was hardened by it at all. And even with the four hours we spent outside at this wedding, with a steady breeze, and it was a humid (but cool) day, my hair stayed in place for MOST of those four hours. I wasn’t expecting a miracle, and my hair did get a big tangled, but the curls stayed until I had to brush the tangles out, and that’s when the curls started falling. Had I brought the spray with me and re-applied, it might have held longer, but my purse wouldn’t accomodate it.
