  • I did not pay the movie How to Lose Friends and Alienate People any attention when it was advertising because I thought that it was going to be yet another one of those celebrity packed comedies that was not very funny
  • However, when I was forced to watch it recently since there was nothing even remotely interesting airing on television, I realised that the movie was quite unique, funny and interesting
  • In fact, the only problem I had with it was that the ending seemed a bit too abrupt, and that gave the movie on a whole an air of incompleteness
  • I recommend this movie to people who like comedy films, because it has a lot of witty jokes and is overall quite hilarious

I did not pay the movie “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People” any attention when it was advertising because I thought that it was going to be yet another one of those celebrity packed “comedies” that was not very funny. However, when I was forced to watch it recently since there was nothing even remotely interesting airing on television, I realised that the movie was quite unique, funny and interesting. In fact, the only problem I had with it

was that the ending seemed a bit too abrupt, and that gave the movie on a whole an air of incompleteness.

The movie was about a happy-go-lucky English man wh o starts out in his home country as a celebrity writer, but there, his profession has made him very unpopular, and even a small magazine he owns seems to be going quickly down the drain. This is all until one day when he receives a call offereing him a job at ...

      • a popular celebrity magazine in New York.

In his new job, he keeps screwing things up and keeps hanging around another writer who is very annoyed by his cheerful happy-go-lucky demeanor. He soon gets immersed in the competitiveness and smugness that results from working in a celebrity magazine and he and the female writer soon realise that they are in love with each other.

I thought the plot was the main thing that made the movie unique since it was

original and not cliche and also it does not have a very happy ending where he and live happily every after. Instead, they both lose their jobs, ruin the image of a popular A-list actress, and when they get together to make up in the end, the man ends up setting a book his love was writing on fire.

I recommend this movie to people who like comedy films, because it has a lot of witty jokes and is overall quite hilarious.
