  • As I will explain, I think these are great wipes for cleansing and removing make-up and, despite the fact that these are oil-balancing wipes, they are gentle and certainly will not strip your skin of oils
  • I can tell you from previous experience (during my own greasy adolescence
  • If I had my teenage years again, I would definitely not dry it out so much but I would want to use a more gentle, balancing product like these wipes
  • They are certainly lovely and soft to use on my skin and what I like about them especially is that they are heavily infused with the cleansing product, so they are nice and squidgy and very effective at cleansing
  • They cost me about £2.95 for 25 in a packet from Boots but are widely available

I made a boob actually because I have dry, ageing skin and I accidentally bought the wipes formulated for combination skin, but I can still give a rave review of these. As I will explain, I think these are great wipes for cleansing and removing make-up and, despite the fact that these are oil-balancing wipes, they are gentle and certainly will not strip your skin of oils. I can tell you from previous experience (during my own greasy adolescence!) that even though you might have oily skin and blemishes, you still do not want any product that will strip the skin of its natural moisture so much that it leaves your skin red and raw. I used many products that were too drying when I was a youth and it was always counter-productive as when my skin was red and irritated through being overly dry, I

got itchy spots anyway and would scratch at my skin, which created more blemishes. Plus, having red skin just draws attention to your spots. If I had my teenage years again, I would definitely not dry it out so much but I would want to use a more gentle, balancing product like these wipes. Johnson’s, after all, is a brand that is associated with baby care products and so they are experts at formulating gentle products in particular.

These are called ‘3 in 1’ because they are designed to cleanse the skin of impurities and dirt, tone the skin (freshen) and they also promise to remove make-up. I think they are great at all these things. As usual, the wipes are a soft ‘thick kitchen towel’ kind of cloth that is as big as your face and infused with product. They are certainly lovely ...

      • and soft to use on my skin and what I like about them especially is that they are heavily infused with the cleansing product, so they are nice and squidgy and very effective at cleansing. Some wipes really are too dry to be very effective, but not these. I would usually use these wipes to take the majority of my make-up off before I use a facial wash and I only need one wipe to do this. I am not wearing waterproof mascara at present but I do wear the whole range of make-up, including eye shadow and a rather difficult to remove smudge proof eye-liner and these wipes do manage to cope with it all very well. I also like the fresh smell which is a bit hard to describe the same way as baby lotion smell is hard to describe, but it is
fresh like baby lotion. It also feels fresh on my skin and certainly leaves my skin feeling toned. So as I say, I should be using more moisturising wipes than these but I must say that these still leave my skin feeling nice and soft and without any redness or irritation at all. I can tell that it is rather too ‘oil-absorbing’ for my skin though, but it is certainly not harsh. Although I am in my forties I do still get the odd blemish of course and I have noticed that my skin seems to have become a bit clearer since I have been using these.

So for combination skin I would recommend these great cleansing wipes that are effective, pleasantly refreshing and effective at balancing the skin without stripping it of oil. They cost me about £2.95 for 25 in a packet from Boots but are widely available.
