  • I took this last year when I thought I was coming down with a cold and wanted to nip it in the bud and start treating the symptoms as soon as they started to occur
  • I wasn't coughing nearly as much after I started taking Tussin DM, but when I was coughing, I was at least working some of that out of my chest which is why I think I really was coming down with something, or my allergies had been having its way with me and was leaving a build up of mucus in my chest for me to deal with later on when it was so bad that I just had to let it run its course
  • This cough syrup does absolutely nothing for sinus or head congestion at all, and I don't think it does much of anything in the way of reducing fevers either
  • I was feeling better in about thirty minutes after I had taken it, but the only problem was that I was feeling bad again in just three hours after taking it, so it didn't have much of a long term effect, and when you're only supposed to take it every 4- 6 hours, that leaves a good chunk of time during your day when you're not feeling all that hot

Not to be confused with Robitussin DM, this Tussin DM cough syrup if I remember correctly is a knock-off brand by Rite Aid or CVS or one of those kind of neighborhood corner store pharmacies. You can easily compare the ingredients, though and they are pretty much the same, so calling it Tussin DM isn’t that far off the mark, though maybe just shy of being morally unjustified. Still, as long as I can get a good product like the name brand stuff but for cheaper, then I’m all for saving a buck or two when it matters most.

Tussin DM cough syrup is a suppressant that helps control the amount of coughing. I took this last year when I thought I was coming down with a cold and wanted to nip it in the bud

and start treating the symptoms as soon as they started to occur. I don’t know for sure if I was actually coming down with a cold or just had an irritant in my throat that was causing that tickle that had me coughing quite a bit, but I took this Tussin DM regardless just to be on the safe side.

It’s also a cough expectorant too, though, so if you have any mucus or phlegm in your chest, this will break it up so that when you do cough, you’re at least working some of that out of your chest and clearing the way for getting better much faster.

This cough syrup does absolutely nothing for sinus or head congestion at all, and I don’t think it does much of anything in the way of reducing fevers either. It’s used primarily as a treatment for coughing and nothing more. So if a cough is all you’re dealing with, then it’s probably not that bad of a deal. Since that’s exacty the category I was falling into when I took this medicine, I had good results from it,

because I expected nothing more of it than what it said exactly it could help treat.

It’s not a nice tasting syrup, but then again, none of them ever are. But it did work pretty quickly. I was feeling better in about thirty minutes after I had taken it, but the only problem was that I was feeling bad again in just three hours after taking it, so it didn’t have much of a long term effect, and when you’re only supposed to take it every 4- 6 hours, that leaves a good chunk of time during your day when you’re not feeling all that hot. So it works on a cough, and a cough only, but not for very long. Still my coughing was more productive and I think that helped keep me from getting more sick.
