Wario Land is a game for the gameboy released around 1994. It is the sequel to the game super mario land 2. You play as Mario’s rival Wario. The plot of the game is about Wario going around different places, defeating enemies and getting treasure. His ultimate goal is to get the castle of a female pirate Captain Syrup to receive an expensive statue that she stole so he can cash it in for a castle of his own.

There are about 8 different worlds to play on with about 5 levels each. At the last level of each stage, you ace off against

a boss. I love the game play elements of this game.

Wario controls pretty differently than in a traditional Mario game.

For one thing Wario can’t jump as high as Mario. He is a more of a strength based character rather than Mario. Wario can also attack enemies by ramming into them with his arm. Enemies also don’t die when you run into them.

You have to pick them up and throw them at other enemies in order to kill them. I liked this strange element from the game. It was very unique and innovative. Wario also has the ability to get power ups.

      Some of them ...

      • are a jet pack and a viking helmet. The viking helmet allows Wario to body slam to the ground, stunning all the enemies on the screen. These power ups were very fun to use. The game is a traditional sidescroller.

You move to the right into you get to the end of the stage. Unlike most Mario games, you have to pay to get to the exit. You must get enough coins during the stage to do this. You can get coins by ramming into enemies, hitting blocks from below or get them floating in the air.

The graphics of the game are pretty advanced for a game boy. The

characters and backgrounds look smooth and textured. This is great considering the original game boy had no color. The graphics almost look like they came from a super Nintendo game without color.

The gameplay is also pretty challenging but not too frustrating. it contains lots of enemies and platforming challenges but they are all fun to do. This game was a lot of fun to play overall. I loved how Wario was such a different character to control than Mario.

I also loved how this game was about being greedy and getting money instead of rescuing a princess like in traditional mario games. This gives the game great replay value.
