Bruce Almighty stars Jim Carey in a comic roll. Jennifer Aniston plays his girlfriend, and Morgan Freeman plays Almighty God himself, who Jim Carrey meets after he curses his life and complains to God about it.

Bruce, Jim Carrey’s character, is a popular newscaster who covers funny stories with his trademark good humor. However, he is not satisfied with his job and longs to

be given a newsanchor position. When he is turned down for a promotion, he becomes incredibly disappointed and manages to lose the job that he has after erupting in a fit of anger on camera. That afternoon, he is mugged. Furious about the lack of order in his life, he curses God.

Bruce then finds himself meeting God face to face. When Bruce tells God that he feels he could do a better job of running the universe than God does, God gives him His powers. Suddenly all powerful, Bruce plays with his newfound power and tries to improve his life in various ways. He answers everyone’s prayers and soon launches himself in a new career. But, not surprisingly, he ends up screwing up his life ...

and losing the person who matters most to him- his girlfriend. Not even his almighty powers can woo her back. Further, by answering everyone’s prayers, he has caused instability in society and nature. Finally, he ends up turning to God for help in restoring order in the world and in his life.

The movie was very funny as well as having a great

moral to it. The funny scenes kept the movie going without a dull moment and the story wound up having deep meaning, as there was great wisdom in its moral. The characters were very likable, and the performances were excellent. Morgan Freeman was delightful as God and Jim Carrey was goofy and silly as always. Bruce Almighty remains one of my favorite movies to this day.
