The Relationships Between Files in The Access Data Base To see the relationships between the files choose the Tools menu and select the relationship order from it, a screen containing all the relationship will appear.

There are three kinds of the relation ships the fist one is the one to one relationship; the other is one to many relationship and many to many relationship.

1- The one to one relationship: This is the easiest kind of relationships between two

tables, where for a table in the first file there is a similar one in the next file.

Note that one of the major properties to split one file to more than one is that the access maximum fields number is 255 fields.

2- The one to many relationship This the case where one field in the first file has a relationship with more than field in the next file and an example for that is it appear in the ...

      • sales system, where the relationship between the customers and orders is from this kind, for every on customer more than one order and in this case the file which include the customer is called the master file or father file and the file include the more fields is the reference or the child file.

        3- Many to many relationships.

This relationship is found in two files where for every field in any file has a multi relationship with other fields

in other files. And the most real example for this relation is the school Data Base which contains two tables for students and classes where in every class has a lot of students and one student may be in more than one class (faster learning).

Note that in this kind the two files should have not the same field and you should create a third file to simulate the relationship and do not forget to include the primary key from these two files in the new one.
