Traders Hotel Yangon would be an ideal place to stay for business travelers and tourists not too concerned about budgets. Situated in the business centre of Yangon, the Traders Hotel is one of the few impressive structures.

Though by no means grand, it is one of the few modern buildings in the restrictive environment under the Junta’s rule.

On entering the lobby, the feeling was generally of un-busyness and

      serenity.

It was rather different from the Traders Hotels in other parts of the world.

It seemed that the volume and pace of living seemed to have been slowed down.

The hotel employees were courteous and helpful – they gave an overall feeling of welcome to tourists and visitors, something which may not be present in busier hotels.

Maybe due to their environment and culture, the hotel staff did not ...

      • seem to expect tips (unlike in some countries, where tips seem to be the norm); though when we gave tips, their delight and appreciation was a pleasure to be seen.

The room was clean and comfortable, though the centralized air-conditioning was a bit too cold for me.

The amenities provided were satisfactory – electric kettle, hair-dryer, hot and cold water, coffee making facilities and toiletries.

        What tickered me most was

        the wifi service available.

There was no international roaming service available (controlled), so having access to internet was indeed fantastic, though we were blocked from Yahoo the second time we tried to log in.

The hotel food, especially the breakfast buffet, was good! There were varieties from - Burmese, Chinese and a bit of Japanese and Western.

The food was great, and the staff was helpful and alert.
