Good Against Evil, a 1977 movie, was apparently a pilot for a TV series which didn’t sell. I’m not surprised, to be honest. Unfortunately, this also means that there is no ending really to the picture. That’s because the catalyst for the action had to be a missing woman.

Think of this movie like a TV version of The Exorcist and you have the main idea. It is about various

kinds of possession and how to defeat the devil. That’s the simplified version of it.

The movie starred Dack Rambo as the charming Andy Stuart. He meets Jessica Gordon, played nicely by Elyssa Davalos, when he causes some damage to her vehicle. Over time, they fall in love, only one day she disappears. That’s the catalyst I mentioned. Andy is determined to find her, and that is why he ...

      • sets out across the country.

With him is Dan O’Herlihy’s character of Father Kemschler. He’s the one who knows all about the devil’s little game, and so he’d be with Andy as they battled whoever, wherever.

I just don’t think people wanted to see The Exorcist every week, and there were several very disturbing scenes incorporated into this movie. Been there, done that, and Linda Blair’s teenage portrayal was plenty.

        Jenny O’Hara, Peggy McCay,

and Kim Cattrall all did okay in their bits. However, I had a problem with how Rambo’s and Cattrall’s characters interacted, considering how in love Andy was supposed to be with Jessica. That was a turn off. I also think Cattrall overplayed it.

Rambo was okay in this part, but it just wasn’t a good role for him to sink his teeth into. The character was decent, but the plot wasn’t.
