  • My experience with this heating pad was more unpleasant than pleasant though, and it was also a rather short experience at that, due to the heating pad simply dying on me after approximately a month of light use
  • Unfortunately, when the heating pad shuts off, it's impossible to get the heating pad to kick back on even after it has completely cooled down and has been sitting for over an hour
  • I don't think it could have been something that I did as I was always pretty careful with the heating pad, despite my aggravation at times, and I followed the instructions in regards to cleaning and handling, so I don't think it was anything that I did that caused it to die
  • Fortunately, I was able to get a refund on my purchase, and if the heating pad was going to just stop working on me, all I can say is I'm glad it stopped working before thirty days had passed, as the store I bought it from might not have taken it back then, since after thirty days, regardless of whether you have a receipt or not, you generally can't return something
  • I definitely expected a lot more in terms of a life span and reliability from a product that normally retails around thirty-five dollars

I came across the SoftHeat Ultra Heating Pad, King Size version, on sale for a price of twenty-five dollars, which allowed me to save nearly ten dollars off the regular price of the heating pad, and so, I took advantage of the sale. I had been in search of a quality heating pad as a good heating pad can do wonders for relieving throbbing and unpleasant aches and pains in the body, and I had hoped that this heating pad would be a good one that I could make use of year after year. My experience with this heating pad was more unpleasant than pleasant though, and it was also a rather short experience at that, due to the heating pad simply dying on me after approximately a month of light use.

Thinking back, I would say I used this heating pad about seven or eight times during the month that I purchased it. Being the king-sized version, the heating pad was great for like the shoulder region and around the upper back and lower neck areas. I was initially delighted with the heating

pad. I quite liked that the heating pad was equipped with four settings, so I could regulate how much heat I desired for it to give off and the material was soft and comfortable, too, so in addition to the soothing heat being soaked up by the part of my body that I had the heating pad pressed up against, the material didn’t irritate or bother my skin in the slightest. It was very easy to just relax with the heating pad up against by body, and the heat did a great job of easing the ache and soreness that I was feeling in my muscles and body.

The heating pad is designed to shut off after sixty minutes as a precautionary measure. Unfortunately, when the heating pad shuts off, it’s impossible to get the heating pad to kick back on even after it has completely cooled down and has been sitting for over an hour. It’s not supposed to behave that way according to the instructions. It seemed that no matter how many times I unplugged it and plugged it back in,

      • there was simply no trick to it. It would come back on only when it was good and ready, and that only irritated me further on top of the irritation I was feeling from the soreness in my body at the time. Eventually, I would get it to turn back on, and I could enjoy its therapeutic warmth for another sixty minutes. After under ten uses though, the heating pad permanently stopped working, and regardless of what I tried, I couldn’t get the heating pad to come back to life. I don’t think it could have been something that I did as I was always pretty careful with the heating pad, despite my aggravation at times, and I followed the instructions in regards to cleaning and handling, so I don’t think it was anything that I did that caused it to die.

Fortunately, I was able to get a refund on my purchase, and if the heating pad was going to just stop working on me, all I can say is I’m glad it stopped working before thirty days had passed, as the store

I bought it from might not have taken it back then, since after thirty days, regardless of whether you have a receipt or not, you generally can’t return something. Even still, I obviously would’ve preferred this heating pad from SoftHeat to keep working. I liked the four temperature settings, I liked the large size of the heating pad and I liked the softness of the material, and overall it was easy to operate and maintain, but it was at times too unreliable when it was working, and when it stopped working, I couldn’t believe that after just under ten uses, the heating pad had given up on me. I definitely expected a lot more in terms of a life span and reliability from a product that normally retails around thirty-five dollars. I can’t rate it any higher than a “3″ because of how poorly designed the inner-workings of the heating pad must have been to be as unreliable as it was and to die as quickly as it did. I liked it a lot when it worked, but a heating pad that stops working is just obviously useless.
