Ice Road Truckers: Blood on the Dalton was a very dramatic outing for this History Channel reality series. The title was very appropriate as the hour long program focused on some unpleasant events that occurred at this part of the ice trucking season.

There were several points of interest. For example, there was Ray, a rookie driver, who made a bit of a mistake in not keeping his truck hooked up. The result was that

it iced over and wouldn’t start. That was the least of his troubles, though, as later he feared he was having a struck.

Then there was my favorite, Lisa, who after getting a chance to work with Jack on a megahaul assignment had two little goof ups. Not only did she forget to fuel up her truck, but then she had an accident where her truck went off the road. She fretted about it ...

      • all the way back to the headquarters and was certain she was going to be fired. Fortunately, she wasn’t and it was considered a minor mishap. Poor Lisa: it was just a case of very bad timing.

Then there was Alex, one of the two Canadian drivers who work this territory. He came upon a traffic accident with a flipped over truck and played good Samaritan. It came at a cost, too, because

his rival, Hugh, took his load for the return trip. Hugh isn’t what I call a man of honor.

Then there was Greg. He was caught speeding; he says it’s 90% of his income. Then why has he been a jerk and sped his way through the season? He went 69 with a 50mph and a recommended company speed of 42.

I really enjoy this show. It’s fascinating to see this part of life.
