  • It is a good moisturizer, but you only get a small 30ml bottle for your money, and as I have to use more than the hazelnut size blob of this that they recommend to moisturize my face and my neck, I think I am going to run out of this pretty soon
  • I bought this on special offer at Tesco for £6.99 but the usual retail price would be double that
  • My skin certainly does feel as soft as velvet all day long, but I must say that I noticed no stimulating effects at all
  • Now, I would recommend you read other reviews as I notice that some people have experienced a burning sensation and redness after use, but I have noticed nothing, not even the slightest bit of stimulation
  • So really, based on Olay’s other ‘Total Effects’ products, I am very disappointed in this anti-ageing cream because although it is highly moisturizing and my skin feels well nourished, this is not going to go far and I am glad I only paid £7 for it

I have been a big fan of the Olay Total Effects anti-ageing skin care range since trying the make-up remover and the night cream, but I do not think this ‘Wake Up Wonder’ is much of a wonder at all. It is a good moisturizer, but you only get a small 30ml bottle for your money, and as I have to use more than the hazelnut size blob of this that they recommend to moisturize my face and my neck, I think I am going to run out of this pretty soon. I bought this on special offer at Tesco for £6.99 but the usual retail price would be double that. It does not seem to have any ‘waking up’ effect on my skin at all. It is just good as moisturizing and so therefore I would

prefer to buy a different brand that is going to work out as less expensive.

That little bottle is a pump-dispenser with a pretty pearlised shaft. One press down on the pump dispenser produces about a hazelnut size dollop of the cream and we are instructed to rub our hands together and apply over the whole of our faces. This is quite a light cream which absorbs into the skin pretty quickly and although it does intensely hydrate my skin, I needed another squirt of product so I felt I had covered all my skin including my neck which has a tendency to dry patches. My skin is ageing and very parched and dry and although this cream is intended for ageing skin, a small amount did not go very far on my skin.

It absorbs quickly and provides a ...

      • good smooth base to apply my make-up to. My skin certainly does feel as soft as velvet all day long, but I must say that I noticed no stimulating effects at all. Now, I would recommend you read other reviews as I notice that some people have experienced a burning sensation and redness after use, but I have noticed nothing, not even the slightest bit of stimulation. This cream does contain mint extract which, as an essential oil, is extremely stimulating and is not recommended to be used by pregnant women, so in theory this cream should have stimulated my skin, but I felt it did not. I once put too much mint essential oil in a footbath and nearly fainted so I know it is strongly stimulating.

Another thing I should mention is that I have a

couple of itchy spots on my chin that have developed in the days since I started using this cream. I am prone to a spotty chin when my menstrual cycle is due but I am nowhere near my period and so I am wondering if the cream has caused this.

So really, based on Olay’s other ‘Total Effects’ products, I am very disappointed in this anti-ageing cream because although it is highly moisturizing and my skin feels well nourished, this is not going to go far and I am glad I only paid £7 for it. Also, spots are not a good look and this may have made my skin flare up, which I can do without at my age as I have had enough of teenage acne. I would recommend that you try a different brand of anti-ageing moisturizer.
