What? A 2005 review? Yes, I know we are about to enter 2007, but sadly Electronic Arts has bought the exclusive rights of the NFL and now, only they are allowed to make NFL based games for the next few years. I am here to tell you about a game that still beats the Madden games and it is two, almost three years behind. NFL 2K5 by Sega Sports was your alternate option to Madden’s football games in 2005.

The game right from the start was better in price, selling for $20

while Madden was selling for $50. 2K5 joined with ESPN to deliver the best NFL presentation in a football game, ever!

The game has all the normal game types such as Exhibition match, Franchise/Dynasty mode, Practice, online play, etc.

From here is delivers features such as first person football, watching Sports Center, the Chris Berman Pre game, halftime, and post game show. These shows would use actual footage of football games you just got done playing, the highlights would be stored on your hard drive and saved until the shows were over ...

      • for the week.

The next unnecessary, but impressive feature that made the game that much better was The Crib. The Crib was a virtual apartment that was your own, by playing the game you would earn crib points that could be accumulated and spent on various things to make your apartment your own.

You can customize every part of your apartment from the color of the walls, floor, to what items you wanted to hang on your walls. Posters and flags of your favorite team or celebrity, yes celebrity, could be hung

        on the walls or ceiling.

From there you could also pay for minigames. These minigames include darts, air hockey, or table football.

If you have never tried ESPN NFL 2K5 go pick the game up right now. Even though it is two years old it is still a great game that can still compete with Madden.

If you are tired of Madden and still want to play a great football game this is the game to go pick up, and nowadays can be found for dirt-cheap prices, because it was only $20 when it came out.
