I’m not usually a fan of Avon cosmetics: they tend to smell too strongly for my taste, and I’m never quite convinced of their alleged effectiveness. However, given that the bathroom at my family home is cluttered by all kinds of Avon products, from time to time I use one or the other of them.

I reached for the Avon Advance Techniques Professional Hair Care Purifying Treatment Shampoo because I find that good purifying does wonders for my hair. I was a

little put off by the information that the shampoo was suitable “for all types of hair” (I find that specialized shampoos are generally better), but I decided to wash my hair with it nonetheless. I used a modest amount of the shampoo - enough to create a decent foam, but not too much of it. It felt quite nice on my hair, and rinsed rather well. However, after the rinsing I felt that my hair were somewhat dry. The first time, I decided ...

      • not to apply conditioner, and waited for the effects.

Upon drying, my hair were definitely very clean, although also rather dry and not quite pleasant to the touch. The shampoo has a strong, fresh scent, which made me think about the “professional hair care” part of the product’s name. However, the smell might also suggest that the primary target of the shampoo are men - this isn’t indicated on the label, though, and might be just my impression.

        On the next use,

combined with a conditioner, the Avon shampoo worked much better for me. However, the effects didn’t last too long: I had to re-wash my hair the following evening. Overall, the Avon Advance Techniques Professional Hair Care Purifying Treatment Shampoo is a decent product, although it probably shouldn’t be used too often; moreover, I wouldn’t put too much stock on the adjective “professional” in its name. Yet, I still use this product from time to time, and I’m quite satisfied with the results
