  • When it comes to makeup, I like to defer to the old saying about either focusing on the lips or the eyes, and since my eyes are more easily accommodated, I tend to buy a number of different eye shadows, eyeliners, kohl and mascaras, and don’t exactly spend on lipsticks or even lip gloss
  • However, having used it subsequently, I’ve found myself largely disappointed with this product
  • Moreover, although the applicator is very smooth and soft, it is slightly too large, making precise application something of a problem
  • It claims that the product should be good for 24 months after being first opened, and I definitely haven’t had it that long

When it comes to makeup, I like to defer to the old saying about either focusing on the lips or the eyes, and since my eyes are more easily accommodated, I tend to buy a number of different eye shadows, eyeliners, kohl and mascaras, and don’t exactly spend on lipsticks or even lip gloss. However, since my eyes have been easily tired lately from a lot of work in front of a screen, I’ve decided to let them have their rest and to refocus my attention on the lips. With this in mind, I rummaged through

shops looking for a good lipstick, to no avail, and finally decided upon translucent Rimmel Vinyl Gloss Mirror Shine Lipgloss.

The product appeared to give good results when I applied it at the shop to check it out. It made my lips look moist and shiny, and therefore larger, without resulting in unpleasant sensations such as stickiness or worse yet, pain, as lip plumpers can. However, having used it subsequently, I’ve found myself largely disappointed with this product.

Rimmel Vinyl Gloss results in pretty sheen, but its effect are anything but long-lasting. After half an hour or ...

      • an hour at the most, the product requires renewed application, which quite simply means that one must use a lot of it to get through the evening, or worse yet, the day. Moreover, although the applicator is very smooth and soft, it is slightly too large, making precise application something of a problem. Worse yet, after about two months of use, the product has developed a very slight but nonetheless unpleasant smell. I find it uncomfortable and annoying. Admittedly, it might simply have been an older batch, but the container has no information on it about
the date. It claims that the product should be good for 24 months after being first opened, and I definitely haven’t had it that long!

Finally, although the product does not make my lips feel sticky, it does make them feel greasy in a unpleasant way, unlike the feeling achieved by application of moisturizer or a lip balm. It’s also enough to make hair stick to my lips, so that I have to be careful when my hair’s not in a band. I’m definitely disappointed with the purchase, especially since I’d expected better from a respectable brand.
