I was excited to see another movie that stars the tandem of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. This time it was in the movie “Revolutionary Road”. This was based on a novel written by Robert Yates.

The setting is 1960s, and the young couple Frank and April Wheeler are not satisfied with their lives stuck in a rut. April’s dream of becoming an actress did not push through, and Frank is really miserable with his current job and his life. Because of this, April wanted to move

to Paris and start anew, becoming an actress and living her dream while allowing Frank to do whatever he wishes.

Eventually, things turned out the way they did not intend it to be. Frank who was not happy with his job, accidently does something really great that eventually he is offered a promotion and a chance to earn a lot for his family. This made him unexcited now to work with April’s plans to move to Paris as it will lead to a lot of risks ...

      • through selling their house and properties just to sustain themselves and to pay for their flight to Paris while waiting for a good job offer as an actress.

Things moved from one thing to another, and eventually they get stuck in the whirlwind of madness and despair as April is not happy and wants to leave the marriage and Frank is deciding to finally stay with his new promotion and not leave their home.

DiCaprio did a great job playing the role of Frank Wheeler. The movie clearly

showed the couple’s struggles between fulfilling their dreams versus keeping the status quo. Kate Winslet played a challenging role too, playing the role of April and becoming a self-obsessed selfish person who will do anything just to fulfill her dreams.

This movie is based in reality and Robert Yates wrote a very good book. I enjoyed watching this film and I have not read the novel, but I am sure the book is even better than the film adaptation. Nevertheless, this was nicely done and was very entertaining.
