  • Finally, I decided to give it a go as it was on its last week and I haven’t been to Max in a while and was curious if it was still as delicious as I remembered
  • I think that the average number of pieces a person would be able to finish without puking would range around 4-6 quarters which is already very good value as a regular half chicken at Max would normally costs P200 already
  • Half a spring chicken would cost around P160
  • I would pay for the chicken at the regular rate, so I thought that the promo was really good
  • All in all, Max Fried Chicken is one of my favorite chicken chains and the promo was definitely a good deal, no wonder so many people waited in line for it

During Max Fried Chicken’s recent 65th anniversary promo, everyone went crazy lining up to avail the promo. The promo entitled entitles a person to unlimited Max Fried Chicken everyday from 6-10PM until July 17, 2010 for the price of P165. The amount billed to you is exactly P165 inclusive of tax. No service charges. I have been wanting to try this ever since the promo started but have been discouraged by the long waiting line into the restaurant. Finally, I decided to give it a go as it was on its last week and I haven’t been to Max in a while and was curious if it was still as

      delicious as I remembered.

We arrived at Max Roces Branch at around 7:30PM. We were able to take our seats around 8:40PM. Once you are seated, service is fast as there are servers roaming around ready to give you your next serving of chicken. The servers give you one quarter at a time and when it looks like you’re halfway through, they immediately offer you your next chicken. I think that the average number of pieces a person would be able to finish without puking would range around 4-6 quarters which is already very good value as a regular half chicken at Max would normally costs P200 already.

How about the taste? Well, Max’s fried chicken has always tasted good and I’m glad that they were able to maintain the taste despite serving a lot of people during the promo. I love the skin which is very tasty and flourless but still crispy in its own way. Dipping it in Jufran banana catsup is a must. I did not eat rice, and some portions with a lot of skin tasted quite salty, but it would have been perfect with rice. In

contrast, the plain breast part can be quite dry but the catsup can make up for it.

The only thing I don’t like about it that it is quite oily. You can see the oil puddles from time to time on your plate. I guess that is the price you pay for eating fried chicken. I just wish that they could carefully drain the oil from the chicken before serving so that the oil doesn’t accumulate on the plate. All in all, Max Fried Chicken is one of my favorite chicken chains and the promo was definitely a good deal, no wonder so many people waited in line for it.
