I purchased the Samsung Alias 2 about a year ago– I ended up with this phone mostly because I liked the innovative e-ink keypad that allows you to use the keyboard in both ways–both in the traditional sense and in keyboard form. The A2 looks pretty slick and hi-tech, especially with the smart technology that changes the figures on the keypad and its ability to flip both upwards and sideways. The other pros include a large

screen and an excellent camera providing high resolution photos, albeit without a flash.

Also, the battery life and call quality are both exceptional. My other Verizon phones wouldn’t be able to last a day without needing to be recharged, while this one I’ve gone for up to 3 1/2 days before needing to charge it.

However, there are also some cons that come with this phone. The thing that bothered me the most were the keys.

      ...

      • The keys are, for lack of a better word, “slippery”. I had difficulty typing texts for probably the first two months of using it before getting used to it.

Also, the navigation controls were also at first confusing. Some buttons are difficult to find and take some acclimation to access them quickly.

The arrow navigation keys just seem a tad too small. It’s also a little bothersome that the headphone jack is 2.

        5mm as opposed to

the standard 3. 5mm–so if you want to use your headphones with this phone, an adapter will be necessary.

On the upside, the phone’s design seems pretty sturdy and doesn’t wobble when you’re making the transition from horizontal to vertical. The A2 is a bit larger than most flip phones, but not obnoxiously so-I kind of like it.

Overall, the Samsung Alias 2 is a good phone with a few design flaws that don’t really take away from its positive features.
