      German Chocolate Cake is one of my favorite desserts and I always use to look forward to having it at family functions until I was taught how to make it myself. It is really easy and doesn’t take long at all for preparation or to make. This turns out really good and the taste of this cake is truly magnificent. I really do enjoy making it and actually eating it. This is fun when making it with family or even just the kids when they want to lick the bowl. But I really love it and now I often make it at family functions. So here is the recipe for the German Chocolate Cake

      1/2 cup water 4 (1 ounce) squares German sweet chocolate 1 cup


      butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 4 egg yolks 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup buttermilk 2 1/2 cups cake flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 4 egg whites 1 cup white sugar 1 cup evaporated milk 1/2 cup butter 3 egg yolks, beaten 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut 1 cup chopped pecans 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon shortening 1 (1 ounce) square semisweet chocolate

      How you make it is preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Then you grease and flour 3 by 9 inch round pan. Mix together the flour, baking soda and salt and then set aside. In a small saucepan, heat water and 4 ounces of chocolate until it is melted. Remove from heat and let cool. In ...


      • a mixing bowl, cream 1 cup of butter and 2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Then mix in 4 egg yolks one at a time and also the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla. Next mix in the flour mixture with the buttermilk and in a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks are formed. Fold 1/3 of the whites into the batter, then quickly fold in remaining whites until no streaks are remained. Pour into 3 by 9 inch pan and then bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until a the toothpick is inserted into the center of the cake and it comes out clean. After wards allow it to cool off.

        If you want to home make

        the filling, what you do is get a mixing bowl and combine 1 cup sugar, evaporated milk, 1/2 cup butter, and 3 egg yolks. Then cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it has thickened and then remove it from heat. Next stir in the coconut, pecans and vanilla. Then let it cool until it is thick enough to spread. Spread the filling between layers and on top of the cake and in a mixing bowl melt shortening and 1 ounce of chocolate. Stir until smooth and drizzle down the sides of the cake. Now you have completed making this recipe and you will be very proud of the turn out. This cake is really tasty and I highly recommend it. The kids love helping me make it and it is really fun when the family gets involved. They especially like eating it too.
