This cake is really good and it turns out great. This cake doesn’t take long at all to make and is a great dessert to have around the house. I had learned how to make this recipe a few years back and I now make on occasions when ever there is a family function or holiday. I love the strawberries in it which gives it the best taste. So here is the recipe for the red velvet cake:

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 2 ounces red food coloring 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

/> 1/2 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups white sugar 2 eggs 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon white vinegar 1 cup milk 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 cup white sugar 1 cup butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

What you do is first grease two 9 inch round pans and then preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Then make some paste of cocoa and food coloring and set aside. Also mix together the buttermilk, salt and 1 teaspoon vanilla and also set aside. In a mixing bowl, mix together the shortening and 1 ...

      • 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time and then stir in the cocoa mixture. Beat in the buttermilk mixture alternately with the flour, mixing just until it is incorporated. Stir together the baking soda and vinegar, then gently fold into the cake batter. Pour the batter into pan and then let it bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool before frosting and refrigerate until ready to serve. Now if you don’t have any icing
or want to make it from scratch you first get a saucepan and mix the milk and 5 tablespoons flour. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and then let set to the side to cool off. Mix together butter, 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until light and fluffy, then stir in the cooled milk and flour mixture, beating until icing reaches spreading consistency.

After that you have just completed the steps to making red velvet cake. This comes out to 12 servings of food that you would truly enjoy eating. It makes a great dessert for all occasions and I absolutely love it, that is why I recommend this recipe.
