Among the Cutting Edge movies that were made (there were three) this is what I like best. I have probably seen it five times already. I enjoy watching this because I like figure skating and The Cutting Edge has plenty of scenes showcasing some fancy maneuvers. It is funny and romantic.

The movie is about an obnoxious big shot hockey player, Doug Dorsey, who unfortunately got injured during a game. He loved the game

so much that even after he was told he couldn’t play anymore he sent letters to all skating coaches that he could think of. Eventually one responded, the funny thing is Pamchenko is a figure skating coach who is looking for a partner for Kate Mosely, an equally obnoxious and self-centered Figure skater.

Kate’s only goal is to win the Olympic gold medal and she blames her previous partner for her failure to get it. After rejecting every other partner her coach tried to pair with, she was left with no choice but to take Doug. Both of them found their match in each other. As they train to compete for the Olympics they try to compete with each other and in the process inadvertently falls in love with each other without them noticing it.

There were scenes that are funny like when they first started skating ...

together. Doug isn’t used to having toe picks on his skates, Kate knew that and took advantage of that fact and made Doug trip and fall flat on his face several times. Doug also got hit by a puck between his eyes when he pissed Kate off so bad in a mock hockey game.

The casting is excellent, D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelley portrayed their roles well. They have chemistry and I also felt

the tension between them as they try to deny the feelings that is started to blossom between them.

I also find the movie informative, I get to see how hard the athletes work in order to be given a chance to compete in the Olympics.

Even if there’s a romantic aspect to it, the movie could be enjoyed by male and female alike. It isn’t mushy and it is really fun to watch. I’d strongly recommend watching this movie.
