  • Silent Hill is, in my opinion, everything that is perfect when it comes to survival horror games
  • The game's really know how to mess with you, and that's what makes them so amazing to me
  • Sure, some of the games really aren't the best, but 3 is surely the exact opposite of that
  • There is a minor problem with the fixed camera angles, but it's easily overlooked as the problem isn't that big of a deal to begin with
  • No matter what the price, you won't be disappointed

Silent Hill is, in my opinion, everything that is perfect when it comes to survival horror games. Sure, Resident Evil is a great series, but the psychological ends to which the Silent Hill will dive to is astounding. The game’s really know how to mess with you, and that’s what makes them so amazing to me. Sure, some of the games really aren’t the best, but 3 is surely the exact opposite of that.

To me, Silent Hill 3 is the top of the list, the best game in the series by far. Heck, it’s one of the best games for the genre.

/> I can’t really go that far into the storyline without spoiling things, but it’s basically about a teenage girl named Heather as she tries to unravel the mysteries surrounding her past.

It’s a direct sequel to the first game and actually features Harry Mason, the protagonist from the first game. Heather is one of the best female video game protagonists and is one of my favorite characters in the series. She’s strong, courageous, and can actually fight.

Y’know, what females in video games usually CAN’T do. The gameplay is nearly perfect. The controls are smooth and feel natural.

The different difficulty settings vary ...

      • and are good for both newbies and veteran players. Not to mention the plethora of unlockables you can get from beating the game multiple times, as well as the lengthy game itself. By far, the game is also one of the scariest I’ve ever played.

The atmosphere is so well established it’s hard to keep a clear head while playing. The graphics are good for the console, and there’s a grainy filter that was added to give the game a darker look and creepier feel. The music, when there is music, is also pretty impressive.

The storyline is amazingly fleshed out as well,

and the combat is basic but still enough to keep you playing without you getting bored or too frustrated. There is a minor problem with the fixed camera angles, but it’s easily overlooked as the problem isn’t that big of a deal to begin with. It’s slightly annoying, but nothing more than that.

So, basically, this game is brilliant. Honestly, it’s a must-have for anyone that likes horror at all. It’s one of the best survivor horror titles out there and it’s basically its own classic.

If you EVER see this anywhere and you haven’t played it before, get it. No matter what the price, you won’t be disappointed.
