Although the name might suggest otherwise, lakes entrance is a tourist resort located in eastern Victoria, Australia. If you are interested in fishing, this port is also a perfect choice. The exact location is 200 miles east of Melbourne close to the managed man-made channel connecting bass straight and Gippsland Lake. You can access the resort from Melbourne through Bairnsdale or from the northwest trough the town of Kalimna.

We accessed the Lakes Entrance from Melbourne through Bairnsdale and Kalimna town. You use a stretch at the Princes Highway, which goes

all the way round the Gippsland Lake up to a point called the ” Jemmy’s Point”. From this point, we could see the stunning views of the Lakes as well as those of the Entrance.

I noticed that the town mainly relied on fishing and tourism for its economic upkeep. The major beach front happens to be a very safe harbor where commercial fishing as well as recreational water sports operations is carried out. At the water front, there is a huge population of shops, restaurants, a Target Country Store and ...

      • caravan parks. You will find the major residential areas are positioned farther inland. In case you want to camp inside caravan parks, then Lake Entrance is the best place to be.

In case you are wondering which place you will go to for your meals once you are at the Lake Entrance, Miriam’s is the place. The restaurant is separated from the lake by only a lake. It has unique interior decorations with funny captions. The main food in the town is seafood platter, and we could not leave

it out as we begun ordering for our food. The platter was quite enjoyable in spite of some of the items contained in it being frozen. The fish fillet, prawns, whole fish and deep fried vegetable fritter was really delicious. This was served together with Greek salad, which was also quite mouth watering. The restaurant will serve the right purpose for those who appreciate good food. However, the sea food specialists may have to try other restaurants within the town as they are quite a number. The service offered is also quite commendable.
