With a new album out already, Franz Ferdinand has been doing well on the road to success. I would suggest that interested listeners check out their first album, self-titled as “Franz Ferdinand.

” The two disc version is well worth the extra dollar or two, as it comes with

a bonus disc with four more tracks.

How to describe their sound? Well, my strongly anti-eighties boyfriend could only say it “smells like the eighties” and refused to listen to more than one song.

Yes, Franz Ferdinand does have a slightly 80’s-esque air around them, but in ...

      • the end they are more than worthwhile for a casual listen.

Their songs “This Fire” and “Take me Out” were heard all over the radio, but do not do the group’s true talent any justice.

Instead, I submit the curious listener try the rhythmic “The Dark of the

Matinee” or the eerily sexual “Words so Leisured” (which is on the second, bonus, disc).

Their songs are varied enough to let a listener sit through the whole CD comfortably, and as long as one can tolerate a slight “eighties-ish” sound, Franz Ferdinand is good music to listen to while driving.
