The Cumberland Mountain State park was the first park in Tennesee I went to when I was about fifteen. We did the short version of pioneer trail which is aproximately five miles and follows the shore line as you walk around

Bryd Lake the first time we went.

The second time we went, we took the Bryd Lake and Cumberland trail which is 4 miles and crosses over the old dam.

That is the one where my Brother got lost and we ...

      • had to call out the park rangers on horseback to find him.

        Luckily he was fine.

Some how he had gotten off on a differnet trail that was 18 miles long and intended for an overnight backpacking trip.

        Overall this park

is very beautiful and has a nice campground and cabins if you prefer a bed over a tent.

There is a playground, a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball and even a restraunt.

It is located south of Crossville, Tennesee on Highway 127.
