  • While the pranks pulled by “Robot House” were OK and the part with the monkey was somewhat interesting (especially when we learn he isn’t happy being super intelligent but doesn’t want to be a mindless jungle creature like his parents), the episode really seemed to lack something
  • I think it might have been because they had the two storylines going on at the same time

I once again sat down to watch an episode of Futurama with my oldest daughter last night. And, since it was the next one on the DVD, we ended up watching the season 1 episode entitled “Mars University.

” This one was an OK episode but not an overly great one.

Basically, Fry decides to enroll at Mars University (with the intention of dropping out

because he had been a college dropout before but, because of new education standards, was now considered a high school dropout instead) and finds himself being upstaged by a super-intelligent monkey (one of the professor’s experiments).

At the same time, Bender comes across a chapter of his old fraternity and, after discovering it is filled with robot geeks, agrees to help them become the ...

      • coolest fraternity on campus.

Of course, this leads to several “Animal House” references.

While the pranks pulled by “Robot House” were OK and the part with the monkey was somewhat interesting (especially when we learn he isn’t happy being super intelligent but doesn’t want to be a mindless jungle creature like his parents), the episode really seemed to lack something.

        I think it might

have been because they had the two storylines going on at the same time; preventing either one from really developing into something great.

        It was an OK episode.

But, I think the writers would have been better off separating the stories into two separate episodes.

And, given the fact the show is still on the air, I think they would have had plenty of time to do that.
