  • On the other hand if you are not interesting in trekking till the top, you could drive up till the observatory or hire a Gypsy that is generally found at the bottom of the hilltop

The Magnetic Observatory in Alibaug is the only one of its kind in Asia. This tourist spot was suggested to me and by one of my friend and i literally had to hug him after the tour to this observatory was over because it was really amazing and unusual to watch and know.

This observatory was located on a Hilltop. Since i and

my friends had come over to Alibaug for some adventurous trek, so we preferred to trek and go to the observatory. On the other hand if you are not interesting in trekking till the top, you could drive up till the observatory or hire a Gypsy that is generally found at the bottom of the hilltop.

The observatory building echoed the British ...

      • style of architecture and housed rare and valuable instrument like a Magnetograph. The building was completely made of stones and no steels were used for its construction. The Magnetometer recorded the magnetic movement in the earth’s crust and also magnetic storms caused by the solar storms. We could see the recording happening in real-time and it was such a thing that, i
and my friends had never seen in our life.

We enjoyed going to this observatory because it was something very new to me and my friends. The Magnetic Observatory stands apart for being unique. If you ever get a chance to go to Alibaug, then do try your best to visit the Magnetic Observatory. It is hardly 5 miles from the Alibaug beach.
