So my wife and I went to Olive Garden in Grapevine for dinner one night. We like the food and the atmosphere, and it is decently priced. We were celebrating, so we decided to get something nice. My wife loves good salmon, so that’s what she ordered.

The salad was great, as always, and had enough dressing without drowning in it. Our waiter was particularly attentive, without being annoying. Drinks were never empty, and usually were refilled when they were still halfway full.

      Unfortunately,

the salmon was a little dry, and overcooked. She was trying to be a trooper, so she ate almost half before deciding it just wasn’t going to work for her.

The waiter asked if she had liked it, and she said it was okay, but a little dry. He offered to get her something else, but we were just about ready to go. She wasn’t angry, I wasn’t upset, but we had learned that the salmon may not be the best choice.

      • We were given a free dessert, and her entire meal was removed from the ticket. It wasn’t necessary, certainly. We would have returned there any time for a good meal. But they made a point.

They were telling us, “You are our customer, we are happy to have you, and we will do whatever we can to make your meal the best it can be. If it’s not, we will make it right”.

It’s the little things in life that cause us to choose where

we spend our money. If you go into a store that treats you like an annoyance, you don’t go back. If you find a place that shows they are happy to help you, the decision to spend money there is an easy one.

Olive Garden could easily have just shrugged us off, and still had our business. But the fact that they went above and beyond to show they cared made an awesome impression. Too bad not everyone does business that way.
