  • Although I’m not a huge fan of the song, I do have to praise Richards and Jagger on this track as this is the only original song on this record and it doesn’t exactly just mimic the blues covers or other songs that The Stones were releasing, although the track may not be all that great in my opinion, it does indeed show potential for a young band
  • However, if you’re a really big fan of early pop-rock sounding songs, similar to the Beatles’ first few records, I think Tell Me would be an excellent song for you

Tell Me (You’re Coming Back) is a song by The Rolling Stones which appears on their self-titled debut record. Tell Me starts off with a nice acoustic guitar part which has a tone which honestly makes me think of Jimmy Page’s tone from Led Zeppelin.

Jagger comes in with the vocals of the track with a melody which starts out simply and traditional but soon builds into a pretty catchy poppy melody.

Although the original guitar intro of

this made me think this song would be something quite different, it’s pretty much just sort of a pop song.

Then again, considering what The Rolling Stones were releasing around this time period, this song is indeed different.

Rather than being a blues cover or something like that The Stones go in a different direction and more towards pop-rock which is reminiscent of early work by The Beatles.

The track features a lead about halfway through the song ...

      • but it isn’t rock driven in any sense and it’s just sort of a lead which works as a transition and not much more.

that great in my opinion, it does indeed show potential for a young band.

The song does build up very nicely towards the end where the vocals really take on this nice sound, they’re really fine throughout for that matter, but I still wouldn’t listen to this song all that often.

However, if you’re a really big fan of early pop-rock sounding songs, similar to the Beatles’ first few records, I think Tell Me would be an excellent song for you.
