  • This plot gives the player an excellent chance to explore the universe and engage in interesting conversations as well as experience action packed battles
  • Unfortunately, sometimes the item management gets a little bit complicated, especially when you have acquired a large number of crew members and you are trying to outfit them all with the appropriate items and it can be slightly tedious to keep up with item management

This game is another of Bioware’s excellent Role Playing Game (RPG) efforts, following games like Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire for the original Xbox. The basic premise of the game is that it takes place in the late 22nd century when humanity has ventured to other planets in our solar system and discovered technology that allows for quick travel to other solar systems, as well as discovering evidence of an ancient race that seeded the galaxy with this technology. You will also come in contact with a

number of other alien races (who don’t all get along) on the Citadel, a massive ancient space station created by the long-extinct species, the Protheans.

The story itself follows your character, Commander Shephard, as he/she explores an attack on a human world by a mysterious foe. Like other Bioware games it engages the player with a morality system and choices that the individual must make that will sometimes be difficult. You will acquire a number of crewmembers (both alien and human) as you attempt ...

      • to unravel the mystery surrounding a rogue agent and an unknown menace termed the “Reapers.” This plot gives the player an excellent chance to explore the universe and engage in interesting conversations as well as experience action packed battles.

Gameplay for Mass Effect is fun, as it combines some elements of a third person shooter with the complexity of an RPG. Unfortunately, sometimes the item management gets a little bit complicated, especially when you have acquired a large number of crew members and you are

trying to outfit them all with the appropriate items and it can be slightly tedious to keep up with item management. However, this is a minor complaint as the game itself, with excellent graphics, runs smoothly and the plot continues to unfold with a number of surprises (and rather difficult decisions) over the course of the 25+ hour campaign. This is a game that should be well suited to either a player more accustomed to shooter-type games or an RPG fan, as both should find the gameplay, graphics and plot intriguing and action-packed.
