      Collard Greens is a southern tradition that families have been cooking for years. Especially for the holidays like Christmas and thanksgiving I just love making Collard Greens. It has such a unique taste to it and is very yummy. It is fulfilling and you can season it to the taste you like. Several people choose to add different seasons or meat, but it all turns out really good. Even some people like to

      add hot sauce to it to spice it up a bet. I personally don’t, the regular taste is best to me. Here is the recipe for the Collard Greens:

      2 pounds collard greens 6 to 8 thick slices partially cooked bacon 4 to 6 cups water 1/2 to 1 cup chopped onion 2 teaspoons salt crushed red pepper dash seasoned salt 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning, optional

      What you do is wash the collard greens thoroughly ...

      • till there is know sediment left in the sink. Take out any thicken stalks and any thick veins. Chop the greens coarsely and then cook the diced bacon to remove some of the fat from it. Bring the water to a boil and then add the chopped onion, cooked bacon, salt, peppers, and other seasonings if desired. Next you then add the greens to the boiling water and then simmer it and cook
        for about an hour until the greens or tender.

        It seems like it would a long process to make but it is fairly easy to make. Doing this process it would be around 5-6 servings. They turn out so good and as if you made it for years if done right. I am beginning to be better at cooking and really enjoy making collard greens from scratch. I highly recommend this recipe and know you will enjoy it.
