  • Dreaming starts off with a very quick guitar riff from Malakian which has an interesting sound before an extremely powerful drum rhythm along with the bass and Tankian’s vocals come in with the first verse of the track
  • The second verse features Tankian playing around with a studio dub as he sings two different vocal parts simultaneously but it ends up sounding pretty good and really matches up nicely around the time the track reaches the chorus in my opinion

Dreaming is a song by System Of A Down which appears on the second half of their double record Mezmerize/Hypnotize. Dreaming starts off with a very quick guitar riff from Malakian which has an interesting sound before an extremely powerful drum rhythm along with the bass and Tankian’s vocals come in with the first verse of the track.

Thus far the sound is extremely driving, as I’m noticing a lot of the music written by Malakian is, and the sound is extremely full with

the drums providing a lot of power to the track.

The song slows down slightly for the chorus but the track still maintains this very heavy feel which is nice and the transitions are extremely smooth as the song goes back from the chorus to the second verse.

The second verse features Tankian playing around with a studio dub as he sings two different vocal parts simultaneously but it ends up sounding pretty good and really matches up nicely around the time the track ...

      • reaches the chorus in my opinion.

The bridge of the song is far lighter than the rest of the track and features Malakian taking lead vocals singing in a pretty melodic fashion to match the music but the track also maintains a fairly fast tempo, I really enjoy this part to be honest because it’s a nice change from the very driving sound from the rest of the track which isn’t a bad sound, but it’s a sound that can’t go on for extended

periods of time without drawing a bit dry.

The track then transitions back into more vocal sections and the song continues on in the driving fashion which was established early on in the song.

Dreaming was always one of the tracks off of Hypnotize which I didn’t listen to all that much, I’m not exactly sure why, but now I’ll say it’s quite an enjoyable track and has an undeniable driving sound to it which I’m sure a lot of fans of System Of A Down would enjoy.
