When typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana drowned our car, I felt that it was high time to put it out of commission because although our mechanic was able to repair it to running condition, you can hear the wheezy sound that it emits almost as if it is drowning. But it’s a big investment and so I have decided to put in a lot of effort in researching our next car. I took a look at the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Sedan to see

if this was to be our next car.

Several people use the car here in my house. My first concern really is space as my family really could not be classed as petite. The Subaru in this aspect comes out on top – wide legroom for front and rear passengers because the wheelbase was lengthened. It’s only 8cm longer than the previous model but the addition is truly luxurious. The interior is really classy. This was where I was particularly attracted,

      • plush leather seats obviously made from high-quality leather. The dashboard was laid-out not to confuse the mobile-challenged driver (meaning me). I have never seen any much use for the dashboard in my other vehicles. Only my mechanic really has any use for it. Subaru also added what they call e-brake, which can set and released with a single touch, perfect for a female driver like me. I cannot count the number of times that I wrestled with the hand brake
in the past, suffice to say that people have been amused at watching me park in inclined areas.

Nevertheless, despite this obvious concern for female drivers, the Legacy is decidedly masculine with its very muscular look. If speed is your thing, Legacy can go from 0 to 100kph in just 6.2 seconds, pretty impressive for a sedan. It is a smooth ride though that can hug corners and curves. It is sold at about US$43000 ++ which I will have to consider thoughtfully.
