  • Although there isn’t all that much in Soldier Side Intro it’s actually a very interesting opener for the album as it establishes this very dark mood and personally makes me want to hear more
  • Overall I like the dark atmosphere which System is able to create in all aspects

Soldier Side Intro is the opening track of System Of A Down’s album Mezmerize, the first half of their double record Mezmerize/Hypnotize. Just as some background information, Mezmerize starts off with the track Soldier Side Intro while Hypnotize ends with the track Soldier Side so this is one of various ways how the two halves are meant to connect.

Soldier Side Intro is an extremely short song, just over a minute long, while Soldier

Although there isn’t all that much in Soldier Side Intro it’s actually a very interesting opener for the album as it establishes this very dark mood and personally makes me want to hear more.

This song also indicates Malakian will have a larger vocal role on the album, which he certainly does, which is something that many fans weren’t exactly pleased with.

Overall, you can’t really look at Soldier Side Intro

as a normal song as it really is just what its title implies - an introduction to the album as a whole.

Nevertheless, the mood which the band is able to establish with just a guitar and vocals should leave you somewhat encouraged for a good album to follow.

Overall I like the dark atmosphere which System is able to create in all aspects: music, vocals, and lyrics so I’d certainly recommend this track for that.
