  • The production on Toxicity is simply excellent and I think Forest is a good indication of that, you really get to hear a great tone from everything on this, whether it be a guitar, drums, bass, or vocals
  • Forest isn’t one of the best songs on Toxicity but it’s certainly a solid track and worth listening to now and then

Forest is a song by System Of A Down which appears on their second studio effort, Toxicity. The track opens up with a somewhat chaotic sounding section before Malakian comes in with an extremely heavy riff on guitar.

The verse sort of follows a pattern of having this extremely heavy rhythm coming in and out with Tankian’s voice.

As with many System Of A Down songs, I’m not exactly sure what the

lyrics to this song are about, but I will say that Tankian’s vocal melody works very well with the track and his voice sounds extremely powerful.

Toxicity was certainly the album where Tankian’s voice was at it’s best and you get to hear both an extremely heavy side of his voice and a slightly more melodic side on Forest.

The bridge of this track is just sort of heavy riffing by Malakian which didn’t exactly do anything for the song but thus far this is my only real complaint against the track.

However, System certainly redeems themselves with the part to follow this bridge as Tankian

gradually builds up his vocal delivery to lead into one final chorus before the end of the track.

Many of the tracks on Toxicity had a very heavy side to them but there were also tracks which demonstrated a more melodic sound and I’d say Forest is a nice blend of the two sides.

Forest isn’t one of the best songs on Toxicity but it’s certainly a solid track and worth listening to now and then.
