  • At first I thought this was just for color-treated hair, but reading the back of the bottle I discovered that it's actually a daily shampoo that highlights the color of your hair itself
  • I've tried a few Pantene products over the years and for the most part they have a rather predictable scent, but there's something new in this one that really does it for me, because I really enjoyed the scent and loved using the shampoo for that reason alone
  • Really, the only true problem I had with this product is that for the first few days I really didn't see any difference at all in how the color of my hair appeared
  • It wasn't so strong that it looked like I'd just highlighted my hair again, but it was definitely a noticeable improvement

I’ve learned that I could pretty much count on Pantene to give me clean and healthy-looking hair, but when I saw this particular product, I was more eager than usual to give it a shot. My hair used to be a toe-head color, very light blonde. But, over the years, it’s become more than just a little dull, and it’s darkened somewhat, though I can’t even begin to understand how hair darkens like this. And now, instead of a bright honey blonde, it looks more like the color of an ashtray. It’s almost depressing looking in its drabness. But, since I still am blonde by birth, I figured this Pantene Pro-V Highlighting Expressions Shampoo, which enhances blonde highlights in your hair, would be a good alternative. At first I thought this was just for color-treated hair, but reading the back of the bottle I discovered that it’s actually a daily shampoo that highlights the color of your hair itself. Granted, it’s marketed to be used by people who color their hair, but really, it can be used by anyone. I don’t often buy

a shampoo just for myself and typically buy things my husband and teenage boys can use as well, but I felt like treating myself and seeing if I couldn’t wake up my dull and depressing hair a bit.

It wasn’t that expensive, just a few bucks, and the bottle was pretty average-sized. I had colored my hair a while back, but it’d been more than six weeks, and it was alreayd starting to grow out and fade and show the dirty dishwater blonde hair underneath. I was hoping this shampoo would make the difference, since it’s supposed to attach itself to your hair with “liquid crystals”, whatever that means, and bring out the color of the dye or highlights. The first time I shampooed with this, or the first couple times I should say, I didn’t really notice any difference. There were some good qualities those first few days however:

The product smelled fantastic. I’ve tried a few Pantene products over the years and for the most part they have a rather predictable scent, but there’s something new in this one that really does ...

      • it for me, because I really enjoyed the scent and loved using the shampoo for that reason alone. The scent doesn’t fade right away either like with most other shampoos…. as soon as I dry my hair, the scent is still there and usually lasts a couple hours, though it’s lesser in intensity than before.

Also, I thought it lathered decently and it was an easy product to work through my hair. My hair is shoulder length, which isn’t all that long really, but I didn’t need a lot of product at all for this to get through and cover every last little strand of hair. And when I washed it off, I really did feel like my hair was clean. This time, it was a squeaky clean, literally… my hair squeaked when I squeezed the water out of it, and I’d prefer something a tiny bit more moisturizing than that, especially on color-treated hair, but at least I knew the constant oily residue was completely gone. Of course, so were all the natural nutrients in my hair too! I guess you can’t

        win them all.

Really, the only true problem I had with this product is that for the first few days I really didn’t see any difference at all in how the color of my hair appeared. It was still looking dull and depressing. By, by the end of the first week, I finally started to notice that shine coming back. The golden honey highlights were returning, seeping out from deep within the hair, and it was adding a natural glow to my hair all over again. It wasn’t so strong that it looked like I’d just highlighted my hair again, but it was definitely a noticeable improvement. And, it seemed that the longer I used it, the longer the color stayed and the stronger it looked. I used this shampoo for a good three weeks, which made it more than two months since I’d colored my hair originally, and this product really helped keep the color going that long! I couldn’t believe that it had such lasting results. Should I highlight my hair again in the future, I’ll definitely consider this product. Not bad at all. 9
