  • I had a pretty bad experience with a hair dye product a few years ago that left me on the hunt for a good fix that didn't involve shaving off my entire head of hair
  • I bought a cheap hair dye to lighten up the natural blonde color, and give it some more definition and highlights, and I should've been forewarned by the price tag on this product, because it wasn't worth the box it was packaged in
  • I found the Jhirmack Silver Brightening Shampoo for only $4 and I thought for sure it was like a gift from the gods
  • It's safe for use by those with gray hair, yellowing or brassy hair, or those who have highlighted, and I definitely fit into that last category

I had a pretty bad experience with a hair dye product a few years ago that left me on the hunt for a good fix that didn’t involve shaving off my entire head of hair. See, I have naturally blonde hair, but it’s pretty dark and dull and could easily be described as a dishwater blonde. It’s a color I’ve always hated, that started rearing its ugly head after I had my children and my hair started to darken naturally. I bought a cheap hair dye to lighten up the natural blonde color, and give it some more definition and highlights, and I should’ve been forewarned by the price tag on this product, because it wasn’t worth the box it was packaged in! Not only did it totally destroy my hair and cause split ends and breakages, but the color

was phenomenally bad. I ended up with brassy-looking hair that was more yellow than it was blonde. It was truly atrocious looking.

I found the Jhirmack Silver Brightening Shampoo for only $4 and I thought for sure it was like a gift from the gods. It’s supposed to reduce the look of yellowing in blonde hair. It’s safe for use by those with gray hair, yellowing or brassy hair, or those who have highlighted, and I definitely fit into that last category. I was hoping this was the answer I was looking for, because otherwise I feared I was going to be stuck shaving my head. It has vitamins B5 in it, and proteins that help strengthen the hair, and that was important to me because that awful dye I used as part of my failed highlighting experiment had caused a lot of breakage that was very noticeable. My hair didn’t just look frizzy, it looked downright FRIED.

The shampoo doesn’t have much of a marked scent to it, other than smelling generally nice. I’d love it if there were some sort of natural ingredients in it that would smell like berries or pomegranate or citrus or something like that, but I have to say that’s the only minor complaint I have about this product. It’s a good sized bottle for that $4 price, at just over twenty ounces, and so it lasted me about three weeks of daily use. I have a pretty heavy hand when it comes to shampoo, so it probably could’ve lasted me longer if I didn’t always feel compelled to use so much at one time.

And not only did it have a decent smell ...

and an excellent price, it really worked! My hair looked awful the day before I used this product, and as soon as I used it, that yellow tone the highlighting product caused was suddenly diminished ten-fold. I couldn’t believe the difference. I was expecting to have to use this product for a good couple of weeks before it got to a point that I was comfortable with the color of my hair, but when I saw the immediate results I was thrilled. And then the results kept coming and coming, and by the end of the first week, my hair finally looked like a completely natural color with wonderful golden honey highlights like I had originally planned. I honestly can’t imagine using a different shampoo to treat highlighted hair, and I don’t care if I went to a salon and
had highlights done by a professional. I have a feeling this shampoo could help amplify the beauty of even THOSE kinds of highlights.

My hair also felt healthy too. It wasn’t all about the color with this product. My brittle hair, damaged from the chemicals, was finally starting to look healthy again and lose the look of all that frizz that had built up at the tips. And just like with the color treatment, the longer I used this shampoo, the better and healthier my hair ended up looking, and it sort of developed a kind of natural sheen that I’ve only ever seen in shampoo commercials and I never thought my own hair could achieve the same look, and certainly not from a $4 bottle of shampoo. I’d buy this shampoo again regardless of coloring or not! Love it. 10
