  • Up From The Skies is a song by The Jimi Hendrix Experience which appears on their album Axis
  • The track starts off with an interesting rhythm on drums by Mitch Mitchell and a wah-wah riff on guitar from Hendrix along with his vocals singing over all of this
  • Again, this isn’t like the typical Hendrix track, but I’d still highly recommend looking into the song

The lyrics of the song deal with an alien returning to Earth, after already having visited

here previously, and seeing all of the changes and destructions that have occurred and how different Earth is compared to how it was when the alien first visited.

Certainly an interesting lyrical theme which could be taken a number of symbolic ways but it’s quite an interesting concept in my opinion.

The song moves along with a steady rhythm which has somewhat of a jazzy feel to ...

      • it, although I wouldn’t say to any huge extent.

Although I will say that Up From The Skies certainly does have a different sound from the typical Hendrix songs.

This track isn’t psychedelic rock like many of his songs nor is it really blues-rock like the rest of his tracks, it really has quite a unique feel which is why I say that the song sounds somewhat

        jazzy to me.

Overall, there isn’t anything extremely flashy about this song either, which is something that sometimes pops up in Hendrix’s works, it’s just a very well flowing song which is pretty calm throughout, has an excellent lyrical topic, strong songwriting, and this is overall just a very enjoyable track.

Again, this isn’t like the typical Hendrix track, but I’d still highly recommend looking into the song.
