  • Stone Free is a song by The Jimi Hendrix Experience with appears on the album Are You Experienced
  • Stone Free starts out with a short guitar part before leading into a pretty interesting rhythm, certainly a moving one at that
  • Hendrix soon comes in with his voice to sing about this rhythm in a pretty laid-back fashion during the verse which gives the song an overall very free and moving sound in my opinion

Stone Free is a song by The Jimi Hendrix Experience with appears on the album Are You Experienced? Stone Free starts out with a short guitar part before leading into a pretty interesting rhythm, certainly a moving one at that. Hendrix soon comes in with his voice to sing about this rhythm in a pretty laid-back fashion during the verse which gives the song an overall very free and moving sound in my opinion.

      The pre-chorus slightly

picks up the song as the music starts to build up and Hendrix along with it which leads very nicely into the chorus which is certainly the most energetic part of the song thus far both musically and vocally.

The song then loops to repeat this structure for the second verse and second chorus: a fairly laid-back feel during the verse which gradually builds throughout the pre-chorus and then building further to lead into the chorus of ...

      • the track.

After the second chorus, the band wastes no time and goes directly into the guitar solo of the track which comes at a perfect time and the solo itself is nice as well.

Also, just because this is a guitar solo, that doesn’t mean guitar is really the only thing to be listening to here: Redding’s bass line carries the rhythm of the track very well and Mitchell is excellent as usual, giving the song

that groove that has become characteristic of Hendrix.

The solo then leads into the chorus of the track before the song’s finish so the structure is pretty typical but the music is extremely enjoyable.

One thing I don’t really like about this track is the final ending riff seemed somewhat random and out of place and just didn’t flow as well as the rest of the parts of this song, but overall this is a very enjoyable track.
