I have a diagnosis of chronic pain but was being treated with a narcotic pain reliever; Lortab. Some people refer to it as hydrocodone or Vicodin. I not only built up a tolerance to the narcotic pain medication, but was also worried I was becoming addicted to it. I spoke with my doctor and he suggested Tramadol, also known as Ultram for chronic pain.

Tramadol or Ultram is supposed to be non-addictive. I am not addicted to Tramadol to get a high

or to experience anything other than a minimization of my pain problems. So, in that aspect, no, Tramadol is not addictive. But, if you run out of the Tramadol, it seems like your pain in twice as bad as it was before you started taking it for pain; meaning, I felt worse than ever with the Tramadol.

I take Tramadol because I did not want to be addicted to a medication. I am addicted to Tramadol, but only for its intended purpose; to relieve pain. Some people use Hydrocodone, Vicodin, Lortab, or whatever you call it to relieve pain and to get that “awwwwww” feelings. I did not want that. I wanted a pain reliever that just took away the pain, did not make me loopy or drowsy and something I would not get addicted to for the wrong reason.

I would rather take Tramadol than a narcotic pain reliever because the only benefit you get from taking it is pain relief. It does ...

      • Tramadol for Pain Instead of Narcotic Pain Relievers
not make you high, inhibit you from concentrating, or give you any type of side effect or sensation like narcotic pain relievers do.

If you don’t want to get addicted to a pain medication for the wrong reason (to get a high) then I suggest using Tramadol a.k.a. Ultram for non-addictive pain relief. Just make sure you are prescribed enough pills to last you all month. Once you feel the pain relieving effects of this medication and then run out of it,

you instantly start feeling pain. Tramadol can be taken long term without all of the side effects of narcotic medications as well. So, another plus.

If you have a chronic pain condition and want to get off of narcotics for pain, then I suggest using Tramadol aka Ultram. You won’t get high from using it, you can take it several times a day and not get drowsy or loopy, and it is not as hard on your digestive system as narcotic pain medications.
