  • I love both, though for sheer richness of imagery and depth of wisdom, the book is unbeatable
  • His world is the original man made fantasy world, the best, the most creative
  • I would also recommend reading “The Hobbit”, a shorter more playful story that was written beforehand and serves as an opening to the events that unfold in The Lord of The Rings

The Lord of The Rings is a trilogy of books which was later made into a trilogy of films. I love both, though for sheer richness of imagery and depth of wisdom, the book is unbeatable.

The author, Tolkien, was a professor of Anglosaxon and studied ancient languages. His stories were originally concieved as a backdrop for his invented languages, which were

his true passion; an accidental classic, I love it. The stories themselves are an amalgam of mythical motifs such as the Sword that was Broken and so on, blending in his version of elves and goblins (which he calls orcs in his elf-tongue). Orcs have later taken on a life of their own in fantasy literature, but let it be known that ...

      • it was Tolkien who invented them. Heck, without him fantasy practically would not exist. He almost invented a genre.

I love his books for the sheer scale of what he deals with and the vastness of his imagination. His world is the original man made fantasy world, the best, the most creative. In it he expresses the fight between light and dark in

the most stark and powerful way. It’s practically awe inspiring. Strike practically, it IS awe inspiring. He’s amazing.

If you want to know the father of all fantasy novels, read this one. I would also recommend reading “The Hobbit”, a shorter more playful story that was written beforehand and serves as an opening to the events that unfold in The Lord of The Rings.
