  • The main problem with Abrams is that for its lack of size and equipment, it is still very popular as the main gym
  • With so few machines and such a high population, over crowding is common and really takes a toll on the workout experience
  • If you are looking for a good aquatic exercise with cardio and/or strength training, Abrams is the best place to go, but if you are just looking for a place to work out, you are better off visiting one of the other gyms on base

Due to its location and size Abrams Physical Fitness Center is considered by many to be the main gym on Fort Hood, but depending on what you are looking for it could be mainly the wrong place for you. The vast majority of the center is dedicated to the four indoor basketball courts, four racquetball courts, four locker rooms, a sauna, and an indoor pool. While the variety

is nice, if you are looking for a basic gym for strength training or cardio work, Abrams is not the place for you.

Throughout the entire fitness center there are only three exercise rooms. One is for strength training machines, one for cardio machines, and one room for spin classes with very basic, non-electronic stationary bikes. None of these rooms are larger than an average living room, having maybe ...

      • twenty exercise machines. There is also a slightly larger room for free weights.

The main problem with Abrams is that for its lack of size and equipment, it is still very popular as the main gym. This means that it gets crowded, especially during early morning PT hours and evenings after soldiers get off work. With so few machines and such a high population, over crowding is common and

really takes a toll on the workout experience. The main saving grace of Abrams is the indoor pool, the only indoor pool on Fort Hood. If you are looking for a good aquatic exercise with cardio and/or strength training, Abrams is the best place to go, but if you are just looking for a place to work out, you are better off visiting one of the other gyms on base.
