Elizabeth Swann, the governor’s daughter, is kidnapped by the pirate crew of the Black Pearl. The crew is under a curse: many years ago, they had stolen cursed treasure that had turned them into ghost-like beings, neither living nor dead.

Normal in daylight, they turn into decaying skeletons in the dark and cannot truly enjoy neither food nor drink.

The pirates want to break the

curse, and they believe that a medallion that Elizabeth has will help them do it.

Will Turner, Elizabeth’s childhood friend who is secretly in love with her, goes after the pirates hoping to save the girl.

He joins forces with Jack Sparrow, another pirate and a former captain of the Black Pearl.

Jack’s ship had been taken over by the evil Captain Barbossa (the one ...

      • who is now under the curse) and Jack was left alone on an island.

He had survived and returned, wishing to get his ship back.

Thus begins the now-classic The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

This movie had come as a total surprise when it was first released: unusual, very original, funny, and smart.

I still remember all the laughs

        I got from it.

Johnny Depp’s performance was unforgettable, his Jack Sparrow is unlike any other movie character I have ever seen.

I liked Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, too, and of course the beautiful Keira Knightley is a joy to the eye.

Amazing special effects, no doubt, also contributed to the success of this movie.

It is fun, fun, fun’ too bad the second part isn’t so good.
