If you’ve ever wanted to turn all those sticky notes and handwritten scraps of paper with reminders into a simple, easy to use, online system, then Google Calendar is the best site to do just that. Google Calendar requires a Google Account to use (the same one you use for Gmail or Google Docs, etc. ), but once you set one up, you get unlimited access to all of Google’s features.

Google Calendar is completely free, which is surprising given the number of features it

has. Google Calendar impressed me with its “one click” create event feature.

If I want to add an event to my calendar, I simply click the day and type in whatever I want to call it. It has a lot more advanced controls available if you click on edit details.

This page allows you to set up more fine-tuned controls for your event such as who is coming and where it is. Altogether, it is incredibly simple to use.

Another pro of Google Calendar ...

      • is its reminder feature. Once you set up your cell phone number with Google, the calendar can send you a text message at a set time ahead of your event that will remind you about it.

This has prevented me from missing many appointments. You can also configure the calendar to send you emails or pop ups as well.

Google Calendar does have some drawbacks. First, it is only available online for editing at the moment.

This means that if you don’t have access

to the internet, you can’t add new events or change old ones. You can still view events you’ve already established, however.

A final drawback is that Google Calendar, like any online calendar, is online. You can print it out, but it will never have the same ease of use that a paper calendar you can carry around with you will have.

Overall, Google Calendar is an excellent tool for keeping track of events. It is fast, easy to use, and keeps me on schedule day in and day out.
