Music fans were excited when they heard Queens of the Stone Age’s lead guitarist and vocalist Josh Homme would be joining forces with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters (and formerly Nirvana) and former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones to form a super group known as Them Crooked Vultures. The album kicks off with “No One Loves Me & Neither Do I” the stinging bluesy guitar licks with Homme’s wickedly evil lyrics set the

tone for the rest of the album as to be an experimental Queens of the Stone Age esque sounding record.

Then it picks up with the next track “Mind Eraser No Chaser” a fast paced rocker packed with ridiculas lyrics such as “Understanding is cruel the monkey said as it launched to space”, we’ll take your word for it there.

Then the album smoothly flows into the next track “New Fang”, a stand out number ...

      • on the disc.

After a forgettable track we get to “Elephants” the song starts off faster than anything on the album, with Dave Grohl kicking a beat quicker than anything he did in any of his Nirvana drumming days, then Homme’s hypnotizing lyrics and riffs take over.

Next is a funky psychedelic jam called “Scumbag Blues” the 64 year old John Paul Jones makes a display of an old dog with new tricks with his

        basslines on this tune.

The next song “Bandoliers” is the highlight of the album, a simple guitar riff with a catchy bring it home chorus make this tune shine.

Next is “Reptiles” a melodical fun rocker with a loud/quiet dynamic familiar to Grohl’s Nirvana days.

The Album wraps up with a bluesy epic “Warsaw Or The First Breath You Take After You Give Up” before three more tracks to make sure your socks have been rocked off.
