  • It is one of the most recent models in the ATC line of products and offers some interesting innovations when compared to older models
  • First off, the camera is waterproof up to 10 feet (roughly 3 meters) which in my opinion isn't much but it does allow you to use it while snorkeling or at a pool without fear of damaging it
  • I also found it particularily usefull when calibrating the view angle and line of sight on a helmet/bike/jetski etc. More than once i found out (when it was too late) that the camera either pointed too high or too low and wouldn't take decent shots videos, this is no longer a problem
  • The best part is that it is quite light so it has an infinite number of possible uses, I also managed to install it on a radio controlled nitro helicopter and took some amazing footage
  • If you love extreme sports like I do (especially skydiving) and want to record yourself doingit in a first person perspective then this is definitely the camera for you

The new ATC5K Oregon Scientifuc Action Cam is a pretty cool gadget for any extreme sports freak who wants to record their memorable stunts to upload them to youtube and other such sites. It is one of the most recent models in the ATC line of products and offers some interesting innovations when compared to older models. First off, the camera is waterproof up to 10 feet (roughly 3 meters) which in my opinion isn’t much but it does allow you to use it while snorkeling or at a pool without fear of damaging it.

Keep in mind that if you open up the back (to insert SD card and/or batteries) it will no be

waterproof until you close it again. One of the better innovations is that this particular model actually has a screen on the back so you can actually see what it it your recording.

I also found it particularily usefull when calibrating the view angle and line of sight on a helmet/bike/jetski etc. More than once i found out (when it was too late) that the camera either pointed too high or too low and wouldn’t take decent shots videos, this is no longer a problem.

The camera operates with 2 AA batteries and in my opinion battery life is quite decent as you can get a few hours of continuous film worry free. The camera ...

      • records on an SD card (max 4GB) which can give you up to 2 hours of recorded footage.

The camera has only 2 buttons (camera/video options) on the camera body as you can use the remote control for all of it’s funtions. The final video in my opinion isn’t at all that great, there are a lot of mobile phones on the market today which take better footage.

The videos tend to be somewhat too dark even in perfect light/weather conditions. However for an extreme sports camera it does it’s job quite nicely.

The best part is that it is quite light so it has an infinite number of possible uses, I also managed to

install it on a radio controlled nitro helicopter and took some amazing footage. Personally I think it has a great value for the amount it costs, around 150 euro.

It’s sturdyness and materials used make this a pretty safe camera to use even in the most extreme sports. The only (minor) flaw is that unfortunately the LCD screen on the back is not as sturdy as the rest of the body so you have to be a tad more careful with the ATC5K rather then the previous models.

If you love extreme sports like I do (especially skydiving) and want to record yourself doingit in a first person perspective then this is definitely the camera for you.
