  • Overall, there’s some very catchy parts with some nice riffs but I wouldn’t recommend this song if you’re looking for Iron Maiden’s full potential or the depth that a lot of their songs from the 1980s have

Rainmaker is a track which appears on Iron Maiden’s record Dance Of Death. Right from the start the song opens up with a riff which has a very lighthearted feel to it, it certainly doesn’t exactly come off as the type of riff which I would typically associate with Iron Maiden.

As the song progresses, this sense of lightheartedness continues and it’s a pretty accessible song which was obviously written more for promotion,

      or so it seems.

Rainmaker has a pretty catchy chorus and it also follows a very traditional structure: these just being a few more reasons as to why I think this track was obviously intended to be a single of the album and for publicity uses.

Although Rainmaker obviously doesn’t have the same kind of depth that other Iron Maiden songs have, it still isn’t bad to any extent, it’s just sort of ...

      • different than a traditional Iron Maiden song I suppose.

I, and every other fan of Iron Maiden, obviously know that this band is capable of a lot more than simply writing songs like Rainmaker, but I suppose that once in a while these songs aren’t too bad, I just would hate to listen to this band if this was all that they wrote.

Aside from the guitar interlude in about the middle of

the song the rest of the track just follows in a traditional verse, pre-chorus, chorus type pattern and isn’t anything special here.

Overall, there’s some very catchy parts with some nice riffs but I wouldn’t recommend this song if you’re looking for Iron Maiden’s full potential or the depth that a lot of their songs from the 1980s have.

However, if you were just trying to get into Iron Maiden, this is certainly a place to start.
