I am going to review a cartoon television special that was shown on many tv networks such as abc and cbs and financed by mcdonalds. It is about a teen named Michael who is into hard drugs like mariquana and steals his father’s beer sometimes.his sister is worried about him becuase he is acting strange. She especially is alarmed by his behavior when he stole her piggy bank to obtain money for drugs.Suddenly some cartoon characters like bugs bunny ,the smurfs, and alving and the chipmunks come to life and try to teach Michael lessosn about the dangers of drugs.

Michael is regulary tempted to do drugs by a being that looks like hes made out of a cloud of smoke. The smoke guy is supposed to symbolize michael trying to rationalize his use of drugs. He is also tempted by various kids in his neighborhhod such a girl that tells him he could buy crack cocain for 10 dollars.Various cartoon

characters try to teach michael abotu drugs such as taking him on a roller-coaster ride through a human brain influenced by drugs adn sing a song to him about finding ways to avoid drugs called WOdnerful Ways to say No.Michael eventually finds the power within himself to get off drugs adn he and his sister talk to thier mom and dad about it.

I found this special to be a joy to watch. It is a positive and educational tv movie that that teaches kids and teens about the dangers of drugs.I found it creative that the creators were able to personalize Michael’s own rationilizations of using drugs by having a talking smoke creature. The special had cartoon characters explain why drugs were so bad for you. They showed how a human brain looked when a person was on the use of drugs for a prolonged use of time.A cartoon character, simon, from alvin and the chipmunks explained what the drug mariquana ...

      • was. There was a segment when daffy duck showed Michael what he what his future was like if he didnt get off drugs. It is shown that michael will have an early death with his body deteriorated from the prolonged drug use.The song that the cartoon characters sang to michael helped him and the kids watching to realize that they have the power to say no if they are pressured into using drugs. The film also goes into how michael got started using drugs by way of flashbacks. It shows michael being pressured by a group of older kids when he was slightly younger.

I found this was a good way to show how many kids could get started using drugs.I did find a couple of problems with this movie.Alchohol like beer is hardly disscused despite the fact the michael stole some of his father’s beer in the special.I also thought the fact that the father drank beer gave off a

message that it was okay for adults to drink as much alchohol as they wanted but it wasn’t okay for kids to do so.Also, some of the cartoon characters seem a bit too preachy. They told michael things loke “you are great just the way you are”,and “there is nothing cool about a fool on drugs”.It was good that wanted to teach michael that drugs were wrong but they could have used fewer sentences to get theier point across and not too many sentences about self esteem and drugs not being cool.Teh movie also could educate the audience a little more specifically about the effects of drugs. The scene with the human brain did not go too much into detail about neurological effects of drugs.Overall I found this movie had a really positve and fun message to teach kids about the use of drugs and having good self-esteem.Many kids who would watch this will be more educated about drug related issues.
