I am a huge fan of Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds, and Walk Diet in-home walk exercise programs. So much so, that when I heard she released the Eat Smart, Walk Strong: The Secrets to Effortless Weight Loss diet; I jumped at the chance to check it out.

The diet is a structured six week diet and fitness plan. One of the things I like about the plan is that it is regimented. If you are the type that likes to make to do lists, or keep food and activity logs, this plan really organizes you endeavors.

Not only will you keep a daily food/ water diary but there

is also a Walk Box where you will log distance, any additional strength training, and how the day went. Perhaps I should clarify; when I say regimented, I am referring to structure of the program rather than a diet or the workout itself, as there are no calories to count, or minimum sets and reps to workout with on this plan.

Instead, the plan is based around the six habits that keep people naturally slender. Each week you will be given a habit to learn, and each day of the week you will be given a special mission to complete that corresponds to the habit.

Week three, for example, is the Portion Control Habit. On one day, your mission is the “One and Done” technique. Here you must only eat one plate of food at meal times, and not pick from the pans while cooking or eat your children’s left over’s. Ideally, this diet plan serves to clean up bad diet habits and replace them with strategies designed to help you slim down.

Rather than suffer through typical carb/calorie counts or highly specific menus, this plan instead gives a daily food focus. On the week that corresponds to the Breakfast Habit, for example, food focuses included: smoothies, the incredible edible egg, and whole grains.

Here your daily mission would include the focus food and ...

then each food would correspond to one of the 80 included recipes inside. The beauty of this plan is that it gives you food for thought, rather than dictate an entire day’s menu.

Though you are required to try the food focus choices, generally they consist of a meal or snack and do not tie up your entire day. Here, it appears to be more important to learn the habits, and adjust to new healthier lifelong techniques; rather than be fed a finite choice of entrees, or settle for a fixed calorie total.

Some of the choices such as the Caribbean Coconut Scallops, Chicken Aloha, and the Key West Crab Salad

will leave you wondering if you are on a diet at all. There are tons of yummy recipes for this program.

No Leslie Sansone program would be complete without walking. Here she encourages you to try indoor walking by teaching you the basic steps, and then gives instructions on how to organize them into a fool proof workout plan. With this section, you don’t even need to own one of her workout DVDs. I would still recommend one though, I think it’s easier to follow along, and the music will set the right pace.

If you’d like to try this 6 week diet and fitness plan, it is available on Amazon for 11.24 USD.
