The Beatles were great, they innovate and just reinvented music. There are lots of Beatles songs I love, but there are some I like the best. One of those songs is “The Ballad of John and Yoko” written by John Lennon. The song is a smooth rock n’ roll with just the basic instruments: electric and acoustic guitars, bass, piano and drums (and some maracas an percussions). It’s a story about John and Yoko’s marriage.

      What

I like about this song, besides of it’s classic rock beat, is that Lennon told the whole world about his personal life, it was Lennon talking about himself, and he did it in a genuine and funny way. One thing to notice about this song too is that it was recorded only by Lennon and McCartney. Lennon suddenly became inspired and didn’t wanted to wait for George Harrison and Ringo Star (who both were occupied ...

      • at that time). Lennon and McCartney got into the studio, played all the instruments and got the song out in just one session. That of course pissed off Harrison and Star but for the time they have returned to the studio the damage was done and the song was already finished. The Beatles later released the song as a single. That gave them another headache because the song created too much controversy for including the
words “christ” and “crucify” on it’s chorus. People all over the world got mad with The Beatles but in the end the song written by Lennon wasn’t disrespectful at all.

The Ballad of John and Yoko is a great song telling an honest and funny story, recorded by two good friends in just one session. The best part is that this song, along with all Beatles songs, will keep inspiring people for years and years to come.
